Michael Hughes and John Gill started the firm in April, 2002 with a goal of providing quality legal counsel with a high level of personalized service. The firm's commitment to quality representation coupled with personalized attention has resonated with clients, and the firm has grown to include twelve attorneys with extensive experience in all facets of real property law and litigation.
In 2008, Michael Cochrane became a principal shareholder in the firm, bringing with him his considerable litigation expertise. As a result, the firm name changed from Hughes & Gill to Hughes Gill Cochrane, Professional Corporation in November 2008.
Hughes Gill Cochrane specializes in the affordable, effective representation of homeowners associations, and counsels hundreds of clients in CC&R revision and enforcement, election procedures, contract drafting and review, statutory and corporate compliance, and dispute resolution. The firm also specializes in the representation of senior housing communities and the unique and varied issues that they present. HGC attorneys regularly act as featured speakers at California Association of Community Managers (CACM), Executive Council of Homeowners (ECHO), and Community Associations Institute (CAI) programs throughout California, and publish numerous articles and checklists designed to assist homeowners associations in meeting their extensive and complex legal obligations.
Hughes Gill Cochrane maintains an active litigation practice, and the firm's attorneys represent residential and commercial property owners throughout Northern California in construction defect, landslide, inverse condemnation, real estate, business, and insurance litigation. The firm's goal in all its efforts is to provide high quality and affordable representation.
